A wonderfully rich beach scene done along the Spaarne Canal, in the city of Haarlem located outside of Amsterdam in the northwest Netherlands. Once a major North Sea trading port surrounded by a defensive wall, it retains its medieval character of cobblestone streets and gabled houses. It's the center of a major flower-bulb-growing district, and famous for its outlying tulip fields, art museums and hofjes. Executed in the Mid-20th Century depicting figures by the Canal in Holland. Some figures are by the water near the boats docked at the canal. The impressionist details are greatly admired as Arie van Noort is considered one of the last representatives of The Hague School as an impressionist painter in the French line. This painting is signed by the artist lower right and title on verso, it comes housed in an ornate gold tone wood carved frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
