This piece is an exceptional impressionistic cityscape scene by Paul Gagni of 'Boulevard des Italiens' in Paris. The boulevard des Italiens is one of the 'Grands Boulevards' in Paris, a chain of boulevards built through the former course of the Wall of Charles V and the Louis XIII Wall, and the origin of the name is the théâtre des Italiens built on it in 1783. With flower vendors along the sidewalk, pedestrians, buses, and cars, we are drawn into this wonderful Parisian scene effortlessly. This Paris scene is depicted with soft brushwork and beautiful details. The busy street is captured from the times of the early 20th century with captivating movement and great impressions. A true piece of the times. This piece is signed by the artist lower left and it comes housed in an original antique French carved gold tone giltwood frame from the period with linen liner and title plaque, and with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
