A beautiful oil on canvas painting by the French artist, Te Pencke. Pencke was a Parisian painter known for his colorful cityscapes depicting the times of his generation. His work is comparable to those of Jules Herve, Antoine Blanchard and Edouard Cortes. This painting is a wonderful example of his work from the prime of his career. Here you see busy day at twilight, with the pedestrians scattered throughout Boulevard a Paris with a horse and carriage between the tree lined street. The lights flicker in the windows of the cafes and shine against the moody street. The details are magnificent as Pencke captures the architecture of Paris so beautifully; you can feel the energy of the day and the excitement. The painting is signed lower left by the artist and it comes housed in original ornate style gold tone frame with linen liner and hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed..
