A stunning oil painting depicting Carmel Beach in California depicting sand dune flora toward the walking path through the bushes and plants. The puffed clouds moving in the sky against the clear waters of the ocean, sets the scene as we can feel the warmth of the sun effortlessly. Paulsen was known for his pastoral landscapes depicting scenes from daily life; notably provincial European towns. He also created numerous views of city life during his stay in Paris. This piece is an excellent example of the works produced during the 1950s with the use of a rich color pallet, pallet knife, and layers of paint giving this work such a stunning representation of beach life. The way he uses flecks of light dashed onto the canvas creates a joy for the viewer to experience. This painting is signed by the artist lower right and it comes housed in a beautiful gold tone frame with linen liner and hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
