Jack Prudnik
Jack Prudnik (also known as Jack Prudnikov or Jack Prudnikov-Delamare) was born in 1914 and was an American painter associated with Impressionist and Post-Impressionist styles. He is best known for colorful oil paintings of cityscapes, European (especially Parisian) street scenes, markets, and occasional landscapes or harbor views. His works often feature bold brushwork and lively depictions of mid-20th-century urban life. He worked primarily in oil on canvas and occasionally on board, producing lively urban views filled with pedestrians, architecture, flowers, vehicles, and everyday activity. His style features vibrant colors, visible brushwork, and an energetic sense of place that captures the atmosphere of mid-20th-century cities. His paintings often show figures strolling amid architecture and foliage, with a bright, atmospheric quality typical of postwar Impressionist-influenced work. Many pieces are signed “Prudnik” and sometimes with the fuller form of his name. He had a consistent presence in the mid-20th century, following the American Impressionist tradition, and is remembered mainly for his sunny, animated views of European and North American cities.
