A beautiful oil on canvas painting by the French artist, Jean Salabet. Salabet was a Parisian painter known for his colorful cityscapes depicting the times of his generation. His work is comparable to that of Jules Herve, Antoine Blanchard, and Edouard Cortes. This painting is a wonderful example of his work from the prime of his career. Here you see a bustling street scene with figures, cars, a horse and carriage by Place de l'Opéra and Café de la Paix. A bustling street scene filled with life on a crisp Fall day in the late afternoon at twilight, with people walking alongside the streets of Paris under an overcast sky, enhancing the scene's atmosphere. Salabet's signature style uses a diverse and vibrant color palette, blending warm earth tones with cool blues and grays. His impressionistic brushwork creates a sense of movement and atmosphere, effectively conveying the excitement and charm of a busy day in Paris. Figures are depicted throughout the streets, and the city lights flicker and reflect on the wet ground, magically illuminating the scene. The details are magnificent as Salabet captures the architecture of Paris so beautifully; you can feel the energy of the day and the excitement. The piece is signed by the artist lower left, and it comes housed in an elegant wood frame with linen liner and hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
Condition: The painting is in very good to excellent condition and comes displayed in the original vintage frame that shows some ordinary wear from age and minor imperfections in line with the manufacturing period (please refer to listing pictures for details).
