A stunning depiction a romantic Parisian street scene painted in 1957. We are drawn to the playful use of light and how the rain sparkles on the sidewalk. Figures go about in the day by Pont de la Concorde with much movement and whimsey. There are cars on the street and horse and carriage depicted on the left. A beautiful moody painting executed with thick use of paint and sporadic, yet controlled brushwork. The artists use of light and shadow is exhibited wonderfully as we can feel the time of day and the atmosphere. This painting is signed and dated 57' lower left and comes displayed in a charming of the time wood carved frame with linen liner and hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
Condition: The painting has some light wear from age and is in overall very good condition besides a minor inpaint area on the center of the canvas, otherwise this piece and its frame are in very good condition for the time period (please see listing pictures).
