An enchanting oil painting executed with thick use of paint, capturing a luminous sight of a train in motion under a bridge with heavy smoke trailing upward. We can feel that a mood is set, as the sky is a deep blue, seemingly at twilight. The train tracks are depicted with trees in the upper left corner and snow traces on either side of the canvas. Overall, this painting glorifies American travel during the 20th Century in an impressionistic manner with beautiful brushwork and strong contrasting colors. A fine work done with rich texture of cobalt blue, mars black, and pops of bright whites and raw umbers. This painting is signed lower mid-right and on verso, with the original nameplate placed at the bottom center. The piece comes housed in a wonderful carved frame with linen liner and hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.

Condition: With ordinary wear from age and it comes displayed in an antique frame that shows some ordinary wear from age and minor imperfections in line with the manufacturing period (please see the listing pictures for details).
